MMU DEGREE SHOW - SABAH BUTT

After looking at the work by Sabah Butt it inspired me to be more adventurous and experimental with where I look for inspiration and my methods of working to have photography, painting and drawings to work from for the upcoming year. She focused on juxtaposition and bringing together organic forms and Manchester culture. One element of the print is a very static, unchanging building that alone would represent confined spaces and structure. By cleverly placing painted flowers and paint that has been allowed to drop freely it has softened the image and the glass paneling becomes a clear structure that the organic flowers have been able to climb up.

Sabah shows through careful selection and understanding where the strengths are in each image, that even contrasting imagery can compliment and create a 3 dimensional image. Using this variety of imagery means it becomes versatile and could be placed on a garment or used for interiors. For interviews and portfolio this could be a good advantage to have allowing for more applications for jobs and to show your ability to produce  print to suit a larger variety of consumers.
